Whistleblower Law Collaborative’s Augustine Ripa Speaks at The MedTech Conference

Whistleblower Law Collaborative partner and former DOJ health care fraud leader Augustine M. Ripa brought his enforcement experience to one of the medical technology industry’s premier events as a panelist at this year’s MedTech Conference.

Big and Small MedTech Companies in the Enforcement Crosshairs: Are You Ready?

Mr. Ripa contributed to the panel discussion, “Big and Small MedTech Companies in the Enforcement Crosshairs: Are You Ready?” during The MedTech Conference 2026, which took place October 18-21, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. His extensive experience provided a unique vantage point for medical technology companies seeking to understand how government regulators assess risk, prioritize investigations, and evaluate corporate compliance programs.

The MedTech Conference, the largest global gathering of medical technology leaders, brings together more than 4,000 industry professionals, executives, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and innovators from around the world to discuss the trends and challenges shaping the future of healthcare.

Mr. Ripa’s participation comes at a pivotal time for the medtech sector as federal regulators continue to focus on compliance, reimbursement, kickback risks, pricing practices, data integrity, and emerging technologies. His session provided attendees with valuable perspective on current enforcement priorities and practical strategies for navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

A Former DOJ Leader’s Perspective

Before joining Whistleblower Law Collaborative, Mr. Ripa spent 12 years in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Fraud Section, ultimately serving as Senior Counsel for Health Care Fraud. During his tenure at DOJ, he helped lead some of the government’s most significant False Claims Act investigations and enforcement actions, including the groundbreaking settlement with Millennium Health for medically unnecessary urine drug and genetic testing, contributing to more than $1 billion in settlements and judgments.

In his government leadership role, Mr. Ripa supervised health care fraud investigations, advised DOJ leadership on enforcement policy, participated in key DOJ-HHS initiatives, and became a recognized authority on complex pricing schemes affecting pharmaceutical, medical device, laboratory, and healthcare industries.

Helping Companies Stay Ahead of Enforcement Trends

The panel addressed the evolving enforcement landscape facing both emerging and established medical technology companies. As regulatory scrutiny continues to expand across the healthcare sector, organizations must be prepared to identify compliance risks before they become enforcement actions.

Drawing on years of experience investigating and litigating complex healthcare fraud matters, Mr. Ripa offered practical insights into the warning signs regulators look for, common compliance pitfalls, and proactive measures companies can take to strengthen their compliance frameworks.
