WLC attorney Erica Blachman Hitchings was a panelist at Whistleblower Ethics: Tyler Shultz on Theranos, Integrity, and Resilience in Silicon Valley, an event hosted by the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at the University of Colorado Law School.  The event featured a frank conversation with Theranos whistleblower, Tyler Shultz.  It was followed by a panel discussing the Ethical, Legal, Business, and Psychological Aspects of Whistleblowing.  

Attorney Hitchings  was joined on the panel by Cheryl Meads, GlaxoSmithKline whistleblower and Taxpayers Against Fraud Board Member; Katie Lawler, U.S. Bank Senior Vice President and Global Chief Ethics Officer; and, James Dungan, Principal Researcher at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.    Melanie Kay, Director, Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at Colorado Law moderated the discussion.

The panelists tackled the various personal impacts blowing the whistle may have on a whistleblower. The panel also explained the resources available to whistleblowers,  explored the common psychological traits among whistleblowers, and shared best practices within companies for listening to an employee’s concerns about potential fraud.
